Beginning in 2026, premiums will increase for Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace plans. This is because the federal enhanced premium tax credits for ACA health plans are currently scheduled to expire at the end of 2025.
These enhanced subsidies have lowered monthly premiums for millions of Americans since 2021. They've also helped manage rising costs for Marketplace membership. Without the enhanced subsidies, costs will increase for all our members covered by an ACA Marketplace plan, regardless if they received a subsidy or not.
What This Means for You
- If you are enrolled in an ACA Marketplace plan, your monthly premium will increase starting in 2026.
- The change is due to a federal program currently scheduled to end, NOT a decision made by Baylor Scott & White Health Plan.
Our Commitment to Care
At Baylor Scott & White, our mission is to promote the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities. Even as federal programs change, we remain committed to providing:
- Affordable, high-quality health plan options.
- Clear information and trusted guidance.
- Continued access to the care you and your family need.
Your Options
You'll learn about changes to your premium during the upcoming Open Enrollment period, which runs Nov. 1, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2026. During that time, you will have the following options:
- Continue to pay for your current plan without an enhanced subsidy—or with a modified subsidy.
- Purchase a less expensive plan with Baylor Scott & White Health Plan.
- Purchase a different plan from another health insurer.
- Note: Different insurance companies have different networks of providers. Before switching insurers, confirm your doctor will still be covered in their network.
- Drop your coverage and become uninsured.
- Note: Federal law requires all U.S. citizens to maintain health insurance coverage and failure to do so may result in a federal fine.

Why are my Marketplace plan costs changing?
A federal program that offered enhanced subsidies to lower premiums for ACA plans is currently set to expire.
